Introducing effective light management

Most of us appreciate that saving on our energy consumption is highly beneficial in both financial and environmental terms. With many of us making as much effort as we can to do this, it can be puzzling and a little frustrating to see some allowing energy to go to waste. One of the most common occurrences of this is when businesses and office parks appear to have lights blazing away day and night every day of the week. After all, having all the lights on across several floors of a building makes little or no sense when there is no one in the building to make use of this.

An unfortunate reality for many of these businesses is that they have, up to now, had no choice but to leave the lights on. This is for the simple reason that they don’t have a means of switching it off. The reason for this is that many commercial buildings in the UK which are more than 30 years old were built in a time when energy was cheap and freely available. At that time, it was calculated that the cost of switching lights off and on would be more expensive than simply leaving them on all the time.

This is not the case today. Undoing this is not as easy as simply adding switches to the circuit, as the wiring was installed with an “always on” intention in mind. In order to ensure lower, better managed costs and a long term benefit, it is vital to implement a solution which will deliver savings going forward. PIR is the perfect solution.

PIR stands for Passive Infrared Sensor. This system means that lighting comes on when a presence is detected, and switches off when there is no movement. With this approach, you not only change the fact that you can’t currently switch your lights off – you ensure that they are only ever on when there’s someone there to make use of them.

Our team of electricians in Warwickshire are increasingly being called on to install PIR lighting. This is mostly in the commercial sector, but there is an increasing popularity for the system in homes too. We have a proven track record of delivering successful results through the installation of this energy saving light control, so why not get in touch to find out how we can help you save money and energy?
